Started in 2013, Bloom & Wild founder Aron Gelbard had a simple belief – that every flower and gift delivery should be a joyful experience, which it certainly wasn’t at the time.
That core principle has seen the business blossom into Europe’s leading online flower and gifting company.
Their secret? Word of mouth and referrals based on a brilliant customer experience. According to Gelbard, “Half our customers discover us initially by either being a recipient of our flowers or gifts, or through a word-of-mouth referral from a friend. That’s why it’s so important we obsess over the quality of the recipient experience.”
Apart from building a stellar reputation, this healthy obsession with the recipient experience in particular has helped the business, which operates under 3 brands in 8 markets, to grow and scale in a sustainable way.
Aron Gelbard, CEO and Founder, Bloom & Wild"We obsess over the details and capture feedback that means we can scale and grow much more profitably because we’re not dependent on expensive paid marketing activity to attract new customers."
Aron Gelbard, CEO and Founder, Bloom & Wild"What I most value about HSBC Innovation Banking is the quality of the relationship and the people we get to work with."
Gelbard is also quick to point out that the team is not only knowledgeable and eager, but brought the right product set at the right time, helping Bloom & Wild to expand.
“They had the right product for us in a revolving credit facility, which is a good fit given the seasonal nature of our requirements. We also have day-to-day banking, a bank guarantee and credit cards – so, quite a range of products”.
He goes on: “Having a single provider that can meet that full range of requirements have been really valuable”.
Aron Gelbard, CEO and Founder, Bloom & Wild"If I had to summarise working with HSBC Innovation Banking in three words I would say they are supportive, pragmatic and flexible."
